ABOUT THE ARTIST
The work showcased on this site spans my two-decade career as a photojournalist and documentary photographer, and my 30-plus years as a traveler. My work has been focused on both international and domestic emergencies and disasters, and when I travel for fun, I photograph wildlife and landscapes.
In my work, I've photographed everything from famine to refugee crises to natural disasters of all varieties. I've worked with international non-governmental organizations, FEMA, photo agencies, and newspapers.
As an avid traveler, I have traveled to 53 countries and 44 states...and counting.
Travel and humanitarian work are my passions, and I have built my life around the premise that there is always more to learn about the world, our spectacular natural environment, and ourselves. I have found that the more open I am to seeing, listening to, and learning new things, the more I evolve as a human.
I count myself among the luckiest and most blessed humans to have been given the courage, drive, and means to forge a unique path for myself…one that has taken me on incredible adventures beyond my wildest dreams.
I am currently working on a documentary series about the US Border with Mexico, (see Border Documentary page in Projects link) and at last I have compiled the images from the 10 years I spent following unaccompanied minors who fled from Zimbabwe to pursue better lives in South Africa. The corresponding documentary will follow soon.
I hope you will take some time to go through the pages and read the captions...they are just a scratch on the surface of the stories to tell from each experience, and you may learn something you didn't know before.
When I am not working or traveling I can be found in Northern California where I live with my son and my 2 dogs.
